How to Keep Your Face Young and Healthy

Our face is the most visible part of our body. Many people you meet will instantly form an opinion about you based on your face alone! They really believe that they “know” you, but what they actually know is your face. No wonder when people we “know” acts in a certain way, we are shocked. Actually, we don’t know them; we just think that we do. Pardon me for digressing from the topic: how to keep your face young and healthy, but I want you to know just how important your face is, to your physical and psychological well-being. I have a very beautiful wife; am always amazed at how people easily love her. Just yesterday, an old man walked up to my apartment, and began to tell me how much he loves my wife! Sounds incredible, but I get it all the time. These people actually like her, and though my wife is a wonderful and kind-hearted woman, they don’t know this at first. Their main reason for liking her is the face! They don’t know it, but its subconscious in all of us. We are attracted to beautiful things on a subconscious level. Researchers have proved that physical beauty plays an important role in getting a job, and even a bigger role in keeping the job! Believe me when I say that beauty is really important.

You may feel that there is nothing you can do about the situation. Maybe you were not naturally endowed with great beauty, but the truth is that we can do something about our face to make it more beautiful, younger and healthy. I have seen certain ordinary looking ladies transform into gorgeous women, simply by following certain simple rules. I have to admit though that in certain cases, more expensive measures are taken to correct some obvious flaws. But doing the simple things will go a long way to keep your face young and healthy. If you are already endowed with a beautiful face, then you must maintain it. Don’t ever take your face for granted, or else something you don’t like will be staring back at you every morning in the mirror!

So let’s look at the ways to keep your face young and healthy:

Top on my list is to take a regular bath, at least twice daily. General hygiene will impart not only your face, but your entire being. It also prevents the buildup of bacteria that may cause acne.

Use a cream that is suitable for your face. Facial cream is your ally against aging. Regular use of a good facial cream will keep your face young and healthy. Your cream should have a good level of sun protection factor (SPF), to protect you from the damaging effect of the sun.

Use a face steamer occasionally to open up your pores and flush out dead skin cells. Occasional use of a steam face mask will leave your face glowing healthy and looking younger. You can improvise a face steamer by simply bending your head over a hot basin of water, while using a towel over your head to contain the steam.

Take care of the skin around your eyes. The skin surrounding your eyes is very delicate, and if not well taken care of, will make you look older than your age. Wear sun shade on sunny days. Apply special eye lotion that also protects your eyes from aging.

Always remove makeup completely before bedtime. Do not use harsh products on your face. Too much face makeup is never a good thing. Too much makeup will make you to look artificial, and researchers have discovered that some of the chemicals found in makeup, are very harmful to your health and some are even carcinogenic.

Getting just enough sun on your body is good, but too much of it, can cause a host of skin problems for you.

Desist from touching your face often. For some people, it is a habit that needs to be broken. If you want a smooth face, then stop touching it.

Get enough sleep. Lack of proper sleep, can add many years to your skin. Our skin rejuvenates itself while we sleep. No wonder when you don’t get enough sleep, your face will instantly tell on you.

Kick that bottle. Alcohol is not your friend, if you want to maintain a young and healthy face. You can debate this all you want, but the fact is alcohol is not good for your skin.

Quit smoking. Smokers are not only liable to die young, they also become older faster.

Exercise and eat well. Beauty easily radiates from the inside out. Like they say, you are what you eat.

Maybe you like making funny faces, that’s great, but if you get in the habit of making faces, soon enough you will have funny lines running down your face.
